Public transport Ciudad Quesada is not the most prominent part of the region. I love to do micro excursion and at the same time I want to try to live without a car. Luckily everything I needed is close by. From Villa Balea there is only 850 meters from th centre of Ciudad Quesada.
A perfect way to get around is to rent a bike. In addition I love to walk and by now I know the shortest ways to reach Benijofar and Rojales walking.
Ever so often want to go a bit further away. Especially when I want to try a new restaurant in a village or town. This is when I would invite my dear friend Maria to go along for a lunch. We explore new places together. Maria lives in Benijofar and enjoys exploring the region as much as I do.
Buses and public transport towns and villages
However, once in a while it would nice to go on a longer trip and with public transport. This is when it gets a bit more tricky.
There seemingly no public transport run by the Comunidad Valenciana nor the municipalities in la Vega Baja. The bus services are run by private companies and would focus on the busiest time of the day, school buses or shuttle buses to get to the University campus in Alicante
However, There are buses from the bus stop In Rojales that goes to Alicante, Elche, Orihuela, Torrevieja and Guardamar. The best is to go to the town hall and check if they have a updated time-table. There is a town hall in Ciudad Quesada and one in Rojales.
The buses that goes between Elche and Torrevieja seem to be the safest bet if you want to catch a bus in Ciudad Quesada ( outside the Ciudad Quesada arch).
Trains and long distance buses
Not to long ago I stayed in the Villa with my friend Gunilla who wanted to travel to Elche and to Madrid. She buys shoes in Elche for her Swedish business and each time she is in Spain she goes to visit friends in Madrid. To make a story short the only way to accommodate her travel plans was for her to go to Torrevieja.
The local train system called “ cercanias” but they do not pass by any village close to Ciudad Quesada
The cercanía train from Alicante to Murcia has the closest stop in the town of Catral which is too far away to make any sense. There are bus companies that are doing Torrevieja to Alicante. such as Autocares Costa Azul. Then there are several companies that would take you from for example Torrevieja – Elche -Madrid with several stops along the coastline.
